The Internet’s birth is not what most people think. Today the Internet is where we figure out details for our school homework, figure out the latest recipes to make for dinner, start businesses, and post funny memes. But the reason for the Internet in the first place was to optimize the use of computers which were sparse back then.
While the video below is a very simplified version of how the Internet came to be (note that the Internet is not the same as the World Wide Web), the video gives a good basic understanding of this system that has revolutionized the world.

Now that you know where the Internet came from, this might give us insight into where it is going. For the church, this is the future of much of what we are doing. We need to figure out how to capitalize on this, not just as something to draw people in, but to share the message of God to everyone around the Internet.
