Don’t Give-In to the “Bark Side”

This isn’t exactly what you want to hear after your advertisement has been seen:

Can someone please explain this ad to me?

I get this ad, but I don’t get this ad.

Let me explain …

  • I get this is playing of last years “young Vader” ad, even though I don’t understand why Volkswagen would want to use The Imperial March to promote their car.
  • I get the pun, “Don’t give into the bark side,” but I fail to connect what this has to do with wanting to buy their car.
  • I get this may be a teaser ad that’s meant to go viral to setup a more elaborate ad on Super Bowl Sunday, making my questions sound stupid.

However, it still feels like Volkswagen is trying to sell me a TIE Fighter and not a Jetta.

I wonder how often we, the Church, advertise like this?

Thoughts?

“This video contains content from Volkswagen, who has blocked it on copyright grounds.”

I guess it wasn’t meant to go viral…
