Mobile phones have come such a long ways, from the car phone that is iconic with Michael Douglas in the 1987 film Wall Street to Zac Morris’s mobile brick on Save by the Bell, we now have iPhones that have more hard drive space and better computing power than any desktop computer in the 80’s and early 90’s.
With this comes the ability for your church to connect with your staff, congregation, and community, whether through the Internet, texting, or other mobile applications. It does not matter if you are Android, iOS, or Windows, you need to have a presence on mobile devices in some capacity.
Here are some interesting (and terrifying?) states from the infographic below:
- 91% of adults have their phone within arms reach 24/7. The average person will then look at their phone 150 times a day.
- 98% of all text messages get read. Many church software platforms can send out mass texts.
- Mobile devices are not limited to texting or social media apps. 44% of emails are opened on phones and because it’s a phone, the “call-to-action” can happen in less than an hour.
The lines of communication are there.
The question is not if you are going to say something, you need to.
Instead, what are you going to say and how are you going to say it?
