From Code to Creative, ChurchMag covers both parts of your brain, but which side do you favor?
Try this little test:
Personally, I was surprised how my mind dealt with the Left-Right conflict.
Here are some print ads by Mercedes-Benz, beautifully showing the contrast between the Left and Right sides of your brain:

I thought these were really magnificent. You can really sense the contrast between the two sides.
I favored the same side over the other, on every image.
However, when I took this little test, I came up with a different conclusion:

So, how about you? What did you find?

Hmm. Weird.
I was right brain on everything except for the dancer.
I guess that means I’m messed up.
Adam Shields says
I would say I was left brained on everything except the dancer. Hmmm….
Eric Dye says
That’s exactly the same with me. Everything was left, but the dancer. Maybe we’re more in the middle?
Eric Dye says
You and me both. 😉

I’m right on all these tests… what I find interesting is that most people who come into contact with me on a “surfacy” level would say the opposite. I think one of the biggest misconceptions that I run into is that right brained = extrovert. I don’t know that I have every read anything that specifically argued for that but it seems that I have run into that misconception often. The combination of a right-brained introvert seems to be an oxymoron to many.
Eric Dye says
Interesting.
Laurinda says
Left on everything. I was able to get the dancer to change direction once. UGH!
Eric Dye says
You did better than me! I tried and tried, but couldn’t do it.

Thanks for posting this. Love the Mercedes-Benz graphics. Twice, with the “help,” momentarily, I saw the dancer move counterclockwise.
I highly recommend the book “A Whole New Mind,” by Daniel Pink. He says we are strongest when we train and utilize both — the whole mind, and points to ways in which society now values that. For instance, “the MFA is the new MBA” in professional development, he observes.
Makes sense to me (left brain) and inspires delight (right brain) in the God whose image in us includes both.
Matt Powell says
Yea, I really enjoyed that book as well. He has written a newer one, Drive. If it is half as good as “A Whole New Mind” it would be worth reading as well. It is on my list…
Eric Dye says
I love this book talk. Absolutely love it!
Adam Shields says
I enjoyed Drive, but did not read the previous one so I can’t compare. But Drive was interesting. Here is a review of it that I wrote up if you care:

Bookwi.se FTW!

So, maybe if you get different answers with different tests means you’re somewhere in the middle? Mmmm, good stuff, thanks for the book share!
