Whether you are a parent, a youth pastor, or a church techie that wants to see children and teenagers be safe digitally, this infographic is for you. I have noticed that people devour these tips because many people feel inadequate on the latest research.
What I do know is that it is possible to keep your youth safe, but there is no magic app or hardware, but instead an intentional dialogue. That being said, technology can help create barriers and proactively preventative.
Here are three important tips you need to follow from the infographic below:
- While websites have notably been the primary concern for people with children on the Internet, we need to reailze that applications are now one of the biggest problems including what apps are downloaded or having in-app purchases.
- But it goes beyond what youth are viewing online instead to privacy concerns. Do they post stuff online to Facebook or elsewhere that has location data turned on? This is a significant risk.
- Finally, intentions are most important. What is it they are doing on their mobile devices? Who are they talking to? What are they sharing? These questions should be answered fully and regularly.
