Technology is a funny thing to the latest generations in that it has completely integrated into the lives of college students, teens, and children. For adults, tablets were not created till they were teenagers or later, so it is a whole new world (and probably a bit scary). Unlike some, I do not see mixing iPads and kids as a bad thing (You probably agree if you are a faithful ChurchMag reader).
Here are three facts I think children ministry workers and parents need to know about technology if they are going to empower and equip children:
- 7 out of 10 children are using tablets. That’s UNDER 12 years old.
- There are over 20,000 learning apps which are great for children!
- A study found that iPads actually improved kindergarten scores after 9 weeks of use in every literacy measure.

I think churches could do a lot more by equipping and educating parents on how to protect their kids. I am amazed at how many young kids spend hours on a tablet with open and free Internet access. :-/

Agreed. It is kind of scary from a parental standpoint.
