I have been working on my own email newsletter for my personal blog and have been doing some serious email marketing strategy to maximize my impact of content through this unique medium. Even ChurchMag has their own email newsletter that you can sign-up for here.
Here is a quote from the infographic we will be showing you after the jump,
“Your email campaign’s overall success is determined by the perceived value you deliver in each email. That’s why understanding the importance of each aspect of its creation — from subject line to send time — is key to maximizing your effectiveness.”
Here are three facts you need to know:
- Top three aspects of an email that is important for your strategy: Your subject line, the content in your message, and the layout of images and call to action at the end.
- 10AM is when emails is most opened by people, so if your target audience is in one geolocation, shoot for that time. Otherwise, shoot for earlier to be opened.
- 75% of smartphone owners say they are highly likely to delete emails they can’t read on their phones. Have a responsive layout!

Your post today helped me see something a little differently – you indicate that our email’s success is based on the recipient’s perceived value. Honestly, I think our focus has been more on OUR need to communicate!
It seems ridiculous not to have seen this before… we send out a monthly email newsletter and are expecting people to open it and be thrilled just because it’s from church.
Hmmm… better rethink this!

I think that value comes down to why you created the newsletter in the first place and the strategy you have in place. It’s great when you get those people on your side that are thrilled about your newsletter, but they are champions for your cause and not necessarily the normal viewer.
