This is a computer!
The FXI Cotton Candy is a computer about the size of a bulky USB flash drive and can be pre-ordered for $199.
Here’s what this little thing packs:
- 1.2 GHz Samsung Exynos ARM Cortex-AD processor with Maili 400 graphics
- 1GB of RAM
- microSD card slot for storage
- USB port
- HDMI port
- 802.11b/g/n WiFi
- Bluetooth 2.1
Pretty crazy.
The Cotton Candy can run Google Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich or earlier versions of Google’s mobile operating system. It can also run Ubuntu Linux and theoretically it should be able to handle any other operating system compiled for ARM processors.
The USB port on one end of the stick can be used to power the Cotton Candy — but you can also plug it into any device that supports USB mass storage to copy files to and from the Cotton Candy.
By plugging this into another computer’s USB slot, you can also boot from it!
I love stuff that come on a stick — corn dogs, ice cream, computers …
What crazy stuff could you use this for?

Very cool concept, with some nice potential. Slashdot mini-review – http://www.slashgear.com/fxi-cotton-candy-worlds-smallest-pc-hands-on-28215962/

Oh, cool. Thanks for the link!

Quite interesting. Though the Raspberry pie project has continued a pace and is proving to be significantly cheaper for almost the same form factor. http://www.raspberrypi.org

But this is on a stick! — LOL!
James Cooper says
And the stick is $200 and Raspberry Pi is $35!!! 🙂
Eric Dye says
Pi isn’t packaged as nice, but $200? Meh.

It’s a crazy concept having all of that on a stick. You should come visit Michael and me in Iowa and go to the Iowa State Fair. They have everything on a stick there…ohh, after deep fat frying it 🙂

Dude. Now I’m hungry.
Stephen Peterson says
Haha! So true.
Aaron Linne says
It says ARM… so we should be able to WIndows 8 on there too.

True story.
