When I first rolled-up on Codebox I sighed.
Honestly.
I did.
With so many solid IDE’s out there, why would you need to create a new one?
Codebox
Upon further review, I found that Codebox is set apart from your usual IDE choices. Codebox works on all platforms, including multiple OS platforms—interestingly enough—the Chromebook, which would also then double as your Windows version of Codebox since it runs in Google Chrome.
This is all fine and good, but that still isn’t what really sets Codebox apart from the pack.
Codebox is an open source project that lets you “create powerful development environments in the cloud with a collaborative, online/offline IDE for your collaborators and your teams.”
That’s right! Collaborative coding!
This is a slam-dunk solution for:
- Remote Teams
- Freelancing
- Pair Programming
- Job Interviews
- Learning Programming
- Teaching Programming
- Anything else? Maybe.
That’s a pretty decent list. Features include:
- Realtime Collaboration
- Run Anything
- Code Completion
- Themes
- Auto-run
- Offline
- GIT Workflow
- Debugger
Codebox also supports the following stacks:
😀
And the pricing? Decent.

Premium – $9 per month
