I don’t know how it happened (well, I do know, but you get what I mean). I remember the days I had one device and I felt overwhelmed. Now I own 5 devices I use almost everyday. I bet you are on a similar boat.

We are privileged. God has allowed us to enjoy and use technology for His glory and the good of others. I love having that opportunity. But we need to realize that sometimes it’s just too much. Cool, we can tweet from our laptops, phones, tablets, and smartwatches, but we really need to do it?

The Best Bible App for You [2017]

For many Christians, a Bible app is one of the first apps they go searching for once they’ve got their smartphone up and running. I was no exception when I got my first smartphone back in 2012 and I bet you weren’t either. The extreme portability and decent reading experience makes them a great tool to help you get into God’s word on the go. As long as you have your phone in your pocket (which, let’s be honest, is probably 90% of the time) then you can access a Bible (and not just one version).

However, just as with many of these modern tools, there are a wide variety of bible apps out there which can make it very difficult to find the best one for you. Depending on your wants and needs, you may find that a different bible suits you more, but a simple App Store search might not help. Competitive? Here’s An App to Build New Habits

Yes, I am the person that will make the bed just because my todo list says so.

Yes, I am the person that will get up and do some exercise just to fill the Activity Wheel in my Apple Watch.

I am competitive, and competing with myself keeps me striving to work better.

This, of course, can be tricky. If you don’t pay attention to the motivations of your heart you’ll sooner or later crash under the pressure (like not wanting to move a finger just because yesterday you broke your daily exercise streak). But if you compete with yourself to be diligent and use your time and efficiency for the glory of God, it can be great!

The Advantages of Keeping a Digital Bible Journal

A few weeks back I received an email from Chris Browler looking at Bible journaling. In the email, he briefly went into the advantages of keeping a Bible journal in general for our spiritual growth. However, the part that really got me was when he started looking at the pros of using a digital Bible journal, especially with the similarities with apps like Timehop.

For the record, I’m a big proponent of using pen and paper. Like Ana recently noted, pen and paper offer some great advantages in that they are simple, they are adaptable and they help you focus. I started putting my Bible on top of my computer and phone so that I have to move my Bible to get to them. This little prompt is a great reminder to help me turn to God’s word first and not the latest outrage on twitter or marketing spew in a newsletter.
