The Advantages of Keeping a Digital Bible Journal

A few weeks back I received an email from Chris Browler looking at Bible journaling. In the email, he briefly went into the advantages of keeping a Bible journal in general for our spiritual growth. However, the part that really got me was when he started looking at the pros of using a digital Bible journal, especially with the similarities with apps like Timehop.

For the record, I’m a big proponent of using pen and paper. Like Ana recently noted, pen and paper offer some great advantages in that they are simple, they are adaptable and they help you focus. I started putting my Bible on top of my computer and phone so that I have to move my Bible to get to them. This little prompt is a great reminder to help me turn to God’s word first and not the latest outrage on twitter or marketing spew in a newsletter.

#WhyBible: Wycliffe Bible Translators USA Starts a Conversation

During the month of September the largest Scripture-translation organization in the world, Wycliffe Bible Translators USA, has launched a campaign to “spark conversations about the Bible’s relevance to modern life.”

It’s called #WhyBible, and while they plan on doing this every September, this is clearly something we should consider all year long– especially when you consider these sobering statistics from the Barna Research Group (2016):

16% of Millennials believe the Bible is the literal Word of God
1 in 3 Millennials view it as “not inspired by God” or “just another book”

Have you ever thought about future packaging of the Bible? Have you ever wondered how generations before us could’ve imagined how the Bible could be packaged and presented?

Good Christ followers read their Bibles. Yes? Despite my access to it, there are times I don’t read it as much, as I would like, or ought to. Terrible things for a Christ follower to be saying in this time in history, right? If there is ever a time Christ followers can’t make excuses for not reading the Bible it is now.
