YouVersion, the mobile Bible App developed by Lifechurch.tv, has really grown in popularity across platforms. In 2009, it added mobile reading plans to its feature-set, allowing folks to further engage with God.
Now, YouVersion has marked it’s 5 millionth completed plan, and that is cause for celebration. As one who has been blessed to have contributed a few plans to that number, I can say that YouVersion is truly helping to create and strengthen relationships. The added social networking component and breadth of topics make the reading plans compelling mobile ministry pieces.
The cool thing is how the plans have increased and diversified over time. While I was doing a devotional by Tony Dungy, a teen in my youth group was doing one by Lecrae and Overflow. Also, while laurels are easy to accumulate, the creative crew at Lifechurch.tv seem to understand Who the glory should be directed to.
Below is some visual data to help put the numbers in perspective:

In a land where many people have multiple Bibles, both physical and digital, it can be difficult to fathom that there are more than 1.2 billion people in the world who have no access to the Bible in their heart language. To top that sad statistic, we learn that there are currently 2,000 languages that have absolutely no translation efforts underway.
Of the world’s 7 billion people, 1.2 billion are waiting for the New Testament of the Bible to be translated into their language.
The reality of this “Bible Poverty” led to the genesis of Every Tribe Every Nation (ETEN), a partnership of some of the heavyweights in Bible translation and ministry: Biblica, Wycliffe Bible Translators USA, and the American Bible Society. These organization and their international partners combine to produce 90 percent of the Bible translations in the world.

Recently Logos Bible Software unleashed the hotly anticipated version 5 of their critically-acclaimed Bible study software. And of course, it’s just in time for the holidays!
Whether you’re a pastor, Bible study teacher/leader, or a dedicated Christian, Logos Bible Software deserves a second look. Considered by many to be the Cadillac of electronic Bible study tools, Logos offers a diverse library and a powerful software engine to back it up. With the new Logos 5, the program is even more powerful.
I’ve been a user of Logos 4 for a few years now, and have loved it. It had its quirks and issues to be sure, but it has brought my research to a new level, which is why upgrading to version 5 was an easy choice for me. Stay tuned after the break for a complete review of the new package.
