Have You Ever BETA Tested a Device?

Although the BETA test from Motorola to try out Android 2.1 on the Cliq is now closed, I wondered if anyone in our community is heavily involved with BETA testing out equipment from providers?

I have two motivations for finding out, the first being that it’s just darn cool and I want to know you better. Secondly, it would be sweet to get some first-hand coverage on BETA tests for new gear here on ChurchDrop, especially because we represent a different demographic, so to speak, and our usage might be different.

It takes a dedicated person to seriously BETA test out gear, give robust findings and responses and such. Most BETA testers just do it for free stuff.

Easily Accept Credit Cards with Square’s iPhone app

I’m sure you’ve had a situation like this before:

  • Let’s say your church is having a BBQ to raise money for the youth group’s mission trip to Guatemala next year.
  • Let’s also say the local volunteer fire department shows up and wants to buy 20 of everything but they don’t have cash, only a credit card.
  • Let’s say that you didn’t have a solution.
  • Doh!

Most churches would have to turn them away but with Square’s iPhone app and credit card reader you can accept a credit card just like you accept cash.

Sweet? Yes!

YouVersion Releases Offline for Android, ESV & HCSB

YouVersion continues to update their application and has announced that they’re bringing offline access to their android version. All you have to do is install the update and you’re good to go.

iPhone and iPad users have had this feature for a while so it’s a nice advancement for those that choose not to get sucked into the Apple vortex.

In addition, the ESV version is now available thanks to Crossway as well as the HCSB (for a limited time) so go get it!

Is that all? Most definitely not…
