[This is part 6 of a 10 part series titled: “So You’re An IT Noob“]
Once your Church has a web presence and your team is outfitted with computers, an Internet connection and productivity software, your team will need to be outfitted with mobile devices to stay in touch.

I am a BIG fan of Lifechurch.tv.
They have the vision, people and resources to get things done. They work hard to figure out how to reach people, and their grasp of the concept of using social networking as a tool of influence is renown.
In my neck of the woods, I have slightly less resources. Okay, a whole lot less. Instead of dreaming about endless resources (which is a myth anyway), I do need to concentrate on using the tools I have been blessed with.
Having a good smartphone, a laptop and a trusty work XP-powered desktop — along with cloud computing — helps me bridge the gap.

It would appear as though home entertainment centers are moving toward a media server solution.
No need to flip through your DVDs, just pull them up on your TV. No need to find the right CD that has that one song you’re in the mood for, just pull it up on your media server.
Plex takes this concept to a whole new level of play, making it a perfect media center solution.

So, when you factor-in that every time you key-in your unlock code or gesture to unlock your Andoid phone, you’re leaving behind a traceable trail. It’s time to think about an effective security solution.
WhisperCore is that solution.

One of my frustrations with mobile phones for a long time has been the lack of integration with my computer. I still think that cell phone carriers are missing a treat not providing calls and texts via WiFi when a signal isn’t available, but that is another story.
The main thing that has frustrated me in a work setting for a long time has been the fact that I can’t run my phone directly on my computer. It’s so frustrating having to huddle over your teeny mobile phone, switching between devices when you have a computer in front of you that is powerful enough to control everything.
I think though, at least some of my frustration might be over.
