Fake news? Fox, CNN, and NBC do not have anything on Google, at least with some searches you give it. Not sure what I mean? Check the video after the jump about how Google tells people Obama was America’s King and that Dinosaurs are a myth and schools were lying about it to children the whole time.
Kinda nuts hun?
So how does this happen?
For most of its history, Google did not answer questions. Users typed in what they were looking for and got a list of web pages that might contain the desired information. Because it has been so effective, people began to try to figure out how to get pushed to the top of the search results because that could mean millions of dollars in advertisements if done well.
Since then, Google has put out a lot of extra features, including being able to answer whole sentenced questions and giving snippets of a webpage right in their webpage. Of course, people decided to manipulate Google search results even more. These two features I just talked about combined with web developers who have no conscience have decided to lie to Google users. All in the name of an extra buck.
What’s the church tech angle? Do you know what Google or other online sites are saying about your church? Do you know if people are talking about it? If so, are they being honest? Maybe they are misinformed? What about with social media? I’d encourage you to go find out!
How do you track all of this? I mean, the Internet is a BIG place.
Go to Google Trends and use that search bar to see if anyone is talking about your ministry. Dont’ want to go to Google Trends every day? Try out Google Alerts.
Serious, it’s that easy! Now you are in the know and can be ready.
