Ever wondered how LEGO minifigs have evolved in the last few decades? Of course you have.
Gizmodo worked alongside LEGO to document nearly every single minifigure the toy company has ever made.
Below are a few milestone figures that stuck out to me:
The first minifig LEGO made back in 1978.
This one is slightly fancier with printing on the torso
With the 1989 pirates series, LEGO started customizing the head printing, making it something other than just a plain smile.
As time goes by, more women characters are introduced, but men still far outnumber them. To this day, LEGO is criticized for its male-heavy set of minifigures that are included in nearly every set.
The Jar-Jar Binks minifigure in 2000 was the first to have a molded head.
Rubber head coverings are introduced with the Manga series in 2006.
You can check out the complete timeline of minifigures over at the LEGO Gizmodo blog.
What’s your favorite minifig?
