When it comes to to-do apps, I am EXTREMELY picky. I have to be, since my mind is a bit, well, flighty.
My preferred configuration has evolved over the years. My litmus test used to be the famed Datebk5 from Palm: desktop and handheld intertwining at its finest. Since then, I have gravitated to cloud functionality. I learned that it was best to get software that I have a reasonable chance of finding on other platforms, and also had a web component that allows me to access data from anywhere that has an internet connection.
When it comes specifically to to-do software, I like Android titles that mate well with the online biggies (Producteev, RTM, Reqall, Toodledo, etc.). I especially like Toodledo. I like it’s Getting Things Done functionality and the way it handles projects. It also compatible with Pure Widget.
DGT GTD
I kinda backed into DGT GTD recently while looking for a daily task driver that fit my needs better. It syncs well with Toodledo, handles stuff in the GTD way, allows me to categorize my tasks in a productive manner, and has a great, intuitive interface. It is generally easy to enter tasks by voice, email or even IM (via Toodledo sync) and the reminders are great. I can get a pop-up which allows me to snooze, edit or (drumroll, please) mark the task as completed.
If you are busy professional that uses Android and Toodledo and wears a few hats, give DGT GTD a try.
Support is excellent, and you have nothing to lose. It’s free in the Android market.
It is still officially in alpha, but I have found it very stable on my EVO 4G.
Put that on your to-do list!

Can you elaborate on your task management workflow? I am in the middle of trying to figure out a system for myself and this would help greatly. How do you incorporate several projects, email, repeating items, various non-project oriented tasks (phonecall follow up etc) etc?
I saw the series you wrote about the project management software but I could not find a conclusion to it. Just various reviews.
I hate reinventing the wheel so this would be helpful.

I try to use GTD (via Toodledo) to organize my tasks. A lot of the functionality I have is based on working with Toodledo. I add tasks via the Chrome extension or (less frequently) emailing to my account.
DGT tends to be my Android portal to Toodledo. I do use it to manage Projects. In Toodledo, Projects are a Pro feature (which I have not upgraded to yet). DGT manages Projects well, with clealry defined parameters.
So… say I want to do a youth ministry study… I create a Youth Ministry Project, and load tasks related to this project, which are fairly independent in terms of management.
One big reason I use DGT is that recent improvements allow me to add emails and calls as tasks. I can call out directly from the app itself. I can make notes in the call when there is wi-fi or 4G (I have a CDMA device), but tend to use Evernote for that.
Repeats in DGT work well for me. You can set repeats by completion or date.
Hope this helps…

Yeah it does. I am incorporating toodledo and gtd dtg into my workflow. For emails that are part of projects I just use the goo.gl plugin and copy the url to the task notes.
For non project specific emails I use Activeinbox and hold it in an action queue.
My biggest complaint so far is that in Gtd dtg you cant pull up a list by location even though you can mark location in the toodledo site. Like when I get to office depot I want to see everything I marked office depot regardless of folder or project and you cant do that. I also have an EVO so maybe I need to just go to the site for that.
I am listening to the audio book of Getting Things Done and while I am not going to chage my life to fit their concept of management it is helping me get the projects out of my head and written task lists into manageable projects. And my inbox is finally clear.

@Carl re location-based lists, have you looked at contexts in DGT?
CArl Thomas says
No. I abandoned these apps and now use GQueues for everything. I use tags for location based items.

Coming from the ‘Palm’ world as well I want to let you know that there is a successor of datebk out for palm. It is not as powerful as datebk was (I stopped upgrading at version 4) yet but I like it much. And it’s from the same developer 🙂 There is a desktop version too. The app is called PimlicalA. Have fun 😉 I’m using DGT GTD too. Regards, Stefan

GQueues? Missed that. Will have to see what that is.

I am a HUGE fan of Pimlical. Love the combined tasks and calendar. IIRC, it doesn sync to any web interface for tasks, which is why I never fully adopted it.
