The moment you hold your kid for the first time is filled with polarizing emotion.
On the one hand you are ecstatic. You are so filled with joy and excitement you feel as though your heart will burst.
On the other hand you are scared stiff. Your mind is racing with panic and terror grips your soul.
Because this is real life. This isn’t a game. You are playing for keeps. This one is for all the marbles.

I don’t know what kind of dad you had. I don’t know what kind of dad you are. Or will be. Or if you ever will be one.
I do know that we, collectively, need dads and father figures to be humble, lion-hearted leaders who serve their families; who stand in the gap for their kids and communities.
As the video says,
In real life, there is no script for being a dad.
There are morals, guidelines, principles, values and stories. But no script. If there were a script, we’d have this dad thing nailed down.
Most of us are making it up as we go. They key is to try. Really try hard. To go to bed empty knowing you gave it your best.
And wake up to that incessant alarm the next morning and do it again.
