I call “false dichotomy” on that video. It’s not the case that people who download pirated movies are costing the movie industry revenue in all situations because not all of those download would have been sales. If the mechanism for downloading movies for free suddenly stopped working, would sales go up? No. That’s because pirates aren’t customers.
That video is just saying “we haven’t figured out a business model that isn’t based on false scarity yet, so we’re trying guilt.”
Should you pirate movies? No. Are people losing jobs b/c of piracy? No. In fact lawyers and people who make stupid anti-piracy videos targeting people who already bought or rented the movie are making more money.
