What would Google look like if it were around in the 1980’s? It would look like a BBS (short for Bulletin-Board System for those of you who can’t remember back that far!)
An Austrian web design firm has managed to recreate (or rather, create) just that. Operating on HTML, this isn’t a true BBS. But it does simulate what Google would look like if it were on a BBS – and it works!
The web designer has integrated the simulation into the Google API so that interaction with the simulation provides actual Google results. And as an added bonus, it comes complete with old-school modem sounds!
The only problem is that it uses the old Google API, meaning that the number of searches per day is limited and an error message will be triggered after that. If that happens to you, never fear. You can see a video of the BBS from Squirrel-Monkey.com below:
