One of the worst things that can happen is when you get that huge spike of traffic and your site goes down because your server is sucking wind.
A friend of mine, Cheryl Smith, has resorted to using her Posterous to keep the world up to date, all because her service provider has decided to take a vacation apparently.
Don’t let that happen to you! What a shame! Losing all that valuable “Link Juice” from her post!
LoadImpact.com is a service I’ve used in the past to help me gauge how good a server is. There’s a lot involved in these tests, and it’s best to do a couple of times, but it’ll give you a good idea of how your service will handle the hit.
