“I don’t know how to say this, but your (insert_project_name_here) stinks.”
Hearing someone say that never feels good.
But it doesn’t necessarily mean that you stink.
Why should I listen to them anyway?
What if God was interested in how we handle the process of creating, more so than what we actually create?
What if He’s interested in helping us separate our egos from our work, so that we’ll get out of His way?
Check out the video after the jump, and we’ll unpack this idea of not giving up when our work’s criticized.

What about my Work?
That’s just the problem when we have trouble accepting critique / suggestions….
We think that our work is our work.
We’ll create our best stuff….When we learn that the short-term pain of “failing”, ….or hearing what we don’t want to hear could be God trying to shape our character for the long-term.
So don’t be afraid of failure……Persevere….and fail hard!
Like the saying goes: “Failures are events. Never people.”

Awesome vid! I’m teaching through a series on the character traits of Christ, and this will be a perfect illustration for the (you guessed it) perseverance message!
Is there a way to use Vimeo videos in LifeStream? It’s already set up for YouTube vids, but I’ve never had to load a Vimeo vid before.

All too true. Often our failures are times that God has been refining us. All for His name sake and for His glory.

I like the point you made about separating yourself from your work. Really enjoying this series!
