The first time I was introduced to Ryan Booth’s work was his initial foray into narrative filmmaking. It was a part of a continuing narrative.

Most of Ryan’s work however, consists of photography and I love looking at his work. What impresses me most, is he doesn’t let gear get in the way of creativity. David DuChemin said it best in his book, “Within The Frame” – “Gear is good, but vision is better.”
The following images from New York were all made with Ryan’s iPhone.
Ryan also took a trip to Haiti following the earthquake. In this image, he used a film camera. A small rangefinder camera.
Some of my favorite images Ryan has made come from what he refers to as ‘The Anywhere Portraits.’ It’s basically what the title says. He sets up a simple background and asks people walking by if they want their pictures taken.
The different expressions and emotion he captures is what makes these images stand out. Be sure to check his site to see more.
