Anti-virus desktop software needs a boat-load of innovation; and some of them need to stop using scare tactics (like ZoneAlarm) to get their users to upgrade or to use their software.
In fact, I think the entire desktop anti-virus software business is as close to a scam as possible without being a scam, if that makes sense.
I remember when I would buy computers back in the late 90’s and every single one was completely loaded with bloatware and lame apps like this (do you remember that?). I reformatted my computer before I even used the darn thing.
I’m all for Enterprise-grade software for large-scale businesses (and for financial institutions, government, etc), but when it comes to consumer-grade desktop software I would say this: There are some things that either need some serious innovation or that need to die completely and be resurrected in a better form.
Sometimes I think the same way about the way we do Church and some of the people “in power” in our ministry circles.
Ouch, did I just say that?
