You may have noticed a significant increase of load time across the 8BIT Network; believe us, that was on purpose.
We’ve been spending an inordinate amount of time slaving over our servers because we simply want to make them the fastest and most effective blogs on the planet.
And why not, right? We want to do things with excellence in everything.
Recently we moved away from Amazon S3 as a cloud and CDN provider and jumped on another provider who has been seriously kicking major A.
(Can I say that on our blog? Oh, I just did.)
MaxCDN is now our daddy and has been awesome. Just seeing the load speeds increase and the service times drop has made my heart happy.
Check out this graph showing the number of hits to the caching system and non-cache:
With this type of infrastructure we are simply serving pages faster, which results in better SEO and awesomeness in general.
In addition to an awesome service they’ve got some great reporting features as well:
I’ve been very pleased and I think we’ve found our CDN provider for a long, long time.
Check out MaxCDN if you’re in the market. Also, love to hear what you’re using.

We’ve been using Highwinds for our live video delivery, Though we’ve not yet integrated it for our general http web traffic. We’re still using the dinosaur that is Joomla 1.0.X, given that platform we’ve not integrated CND, but will be by the end of the year pending the release of our new website/video platform.
looking only at price, Highwinds is about as cheap as they come with introductory pricing at $0.075/gb, going down as low as $0.05/gb. For us, it was more of a need for RTMP streaming and HTTP delivery of our video archives.
