Drupal 7.0 has been released and it’s got the normal marketing copy that you see when a new release is set free into the wild:
- More Power
- More Awesome
- More Scalable
- More Flexible
- More Sweetness
- More Hawtness
- More Free
Except for the last one, of course.
I’ll admit that I became an un-fan of Drupal the moment it killed a client’s site due to terrible architecture and coding but it definitely has matured since that incident, although I apparently haven’t forgiven it yet.
Here, have a background image too:
Excited? I’m not, but perhaps you are!

I’ll be excited enough for the both of us 🙂
Looking forward to implementing Drupal 7 later this year after it has been in the wild for a bit.
A ton of useful, once custom modules have been implemented into the core CMS.

Once we get our servers up to par with the requirements, we’ll be implementing the upgrade. I’ve been using it for some time on Drupal Gardens. I love Drupal. It’s more of a programmer’s CMS, but I like it.

I’ll get excited when Views and Panels are stable in D7

wow – three other drupalistas in the 8bit community?!
I’ve started 4 projects on d7, but have come back to d6 when a few things aren’t quite working as expected (and budget doesn’t allow porting contrib or custom modules). soon!

John – what other options would you be excited about, if not Drupal (and don’t say WordPress! lol) ?
Blane Young says
What is Drupal?
Is that like Joomla but less fun?
Just kidding.
I am currently in love with WordPress so now, I am not excited but to each his/her own.

I’d encourage you to give Drupal another try although I’d start with Drupal 6. Now days even sites like whitehouse.gov trust Drupal. (see more sites built on drupal here – http://buytaert.net/tag/drupal-sites) More importantly I’ve found it to be an extremely beneficial tool for churches and ministers. (especially the community building/communication/collaboration functionality)
Some may be familiar with the Do It With Drupal conferences where they take popular sites like Crag’s List, Etsy, Stack Overflow, YouTube, Flickr, etc and replicate the site using Drupal. It would be cool to see a site like http://www.onthecity.org/ by Zondervan redone using drupal.
