So, I have to confess something. I have been writing about church technology topics for the past year, but have not been serving in the ministry. Several prominent people that work in this field for their own business would tell you that what I was doing was faking it. But you can take me out of church tech but you cannot take church tech out of me. I saw this to be true with youth ministry. I do not plan to do youth ministry ever again, but I still find myself watching a movie and noting how something can be a great sermon illustration or see a mobile application and think about how this can be utilized with a ministry.
But my heart is for church tech and with things back to “normal” in life after moving last year and joining our current church back at the beginning of the year, I have jumped back into serving with church tech.
I’m coming in as the low man on the totem pole and have no desire to lead anything in my time of serving, but it feels good to get back into it. In doing so, I wanted to write a little bit about my experience from the vantage point of a volunteer. We have so many blog articles and books on how to lead your team well, we may miss out on what life is like as a volunteer.

Let me also note up front, I will critique my church at times or question why something is done, but this is in no way me saying something is being done wrong nor will I put them down. If I have a problem with them, I will take it to leadership and will not be blogging about it. Further, I have actually done a vlog of my experience as I jump back into the saddle, but do not expect a video every single time. More than likely, you will simply get a blog article only.
So enjoy the video and in the comments below, share what your first time was like volunteering for the church tech ministry.
