GitHub, which suffered a significant down and even lost some data wrote a worthwhile post for you to read on how to best engage with the community that you serve.
Here are a few things of note that I was reminded of when it comes to engaging your community and customers online:
- Transparency is not overrated – it is vital. Give details on what happened.
- Admitting fault (and not shifting blame) is crucial.
- Provide information on what the future looks like, visioncast a better tomorrow.
- Practicality is a premium; make it easy to understand the next steps.
- Provide a channel of 1:1 feedback and support (email is great).
- Give an opportunity to show public support (comments via a blog).
Love it. Thanks GitHub for all your doing and keep on rocking.
