What can the Church learn from one of the most successful computer companies in the world? Church members should start wearing black turtlenecks and sermons should be presented like an Apple event.
I’m kidding of course.
If you take a look at the “stunning financials” presented in the infographic below, you’ll find three major areas the Church can learn from:

Innovation
The first thing the Church can learn from Apple is innovation.
I love the Steve Jobs quote:
“Skate to where the puck will be.”
Not where it is, mind you, but where it will be. Imagine if we began to predict and think ahead of the curve and be the first “on-the scene” to provide solutions to problems in our community. It seems like the Church tends to be the backstop as it waits behind government and other organizations looking to solve problems. What if we were first to tackle the world’s problems?
Opportunity
You can have all the innovation in the world, but until you have the opportunity, you’ve got nothing. Of course, the key to opportunity is learning how to find it, watch for it and take the opportunity when it arises. I think the Church could do a lot more in this area, thinking more about the opportunities to serve those outside the Church, oppose to planning the next event for ourselves.
Execution
Doing a job right and doing it well is something that can often be overlooked. Executing your ideas at just the right time is very important and covers many different areas. From leadership to a clear and concise message, execution is key element in the Church’s success.
What do you think about this?
