Cloud computing is definitely the way to go. I have been using gmail for years and love it. I can pull up a saved email in seconds and I can send and receive emails from any of my business websites ([email protected]). Also the integration with calendars and contacts I never have to worry about losing numbers or calendars on my iDevices because they all sync through the google cloud. I highly recommend gmail for email/calendar/contacts.
Also, as far as church directory… We started out trying to keep excel files up to date then moved to an in house server then moved to an online cloud service “Church Community Builder”. I must say, it is the best directory service I have ever seen. You can access directory info from anywhere you have internet! You can also mass email and text groups online, attendance tracking, custom reports pictures, and a whole lot more. If you are interested here’s a link. http://www.churchcommunitybuilder.com/ if it looks like something you’d like, let me know and I’ll get you in touch with my sales rep. Yes I just did a plug, because we get a discount if you go with them lol.
Anyway, I am personally working on moving all my files to Dropbox. I have the need for a lot of space with media files so I’ll have to see how it works. Once I get the file cloud figured out then I will transition my Pastor to it. He has a whopping 40,000 pictures, 3 businesses and then church. He has so many duplicate files because he works on his church sermons from home, to work to church. He is a big user of gotomypc.com and emailing files to himself. A cloud would definitely help him but I have to find a good solution first. Any suggestions?
Sounds like your on the right track, but with all those photos, DropBox may not cut it. He might look at storing photos on AWS and use DropBox for the files he works on.
