YouTube TV is supposed to be the cable killer and as someone that has dove all the way in, I love it. At $35/month with all of the regular channels, including ESPN, children’s channels, and able use multiple user accounts all while not having any commercials, this is absolutely a deal.
But what does this have to do with churches? Several churches I know utilize television for their church, whether you are paying very high rates for having a men’s Saturday where you watch college football together or the Super Bowl, wanting to show children’s programming while having babysitting during a Monday MOPS group, or running the local news for the secretary, you are probably paying HIGH prices.
Sure, they advertise it as $49.99, but then you have HD, DVR, select channels, and all the other taxes and fees, you end up paying double that, just to show TV for a couple of dollars. YouTube TV sticks to their $35 plus sales tax and they are done.
YouTube TV is currently only available in 50 U.S. cities, but honestly, I live an hour outside of the Columbus, Ohio and it registered for me. (No tricks, no hacks, just my actual zip code)
If you don’t use television for any reason at your church, you don’t need to worry about this. If you do, you shouldn’t be paying so much for television. You’re wasting money.
