YourPrayerChain.com launched and I’m having doubts.
It’s not that I doubt whether prayer is awesome (which it is) or whether or not it’s effective (I know it is) but whether these types of sites are effective or even necessary?
Maybe that’s just me. I’ll leave it at that. My hope is that it’s actually used by people and that it encourages a few, at least before the site is abandoned and overrun by spammers (just kidding!).
It’s built on WordPress and the P2 Theme. What are your thoughts?

Eh, I've used this kind of thing before. I'm not opposed to them, for sure, but I imagine that there's a lot more people requesting prayer than there are pray-ers. I've gone on sites like this and prayed for people before — it can be fun.
The two most interesting things to me: first, it's built on WordPress/P2. Sweet idea, and I wish I had thought of it.
Second, you have to register to post. That's definitely going to deter people, although I suppose it will combat lots of spam. It's much easier to post a prayer request anonymously, I would venture to say.

How does this site differ from online church?
Just asking.
for me I think or shall i say I hope it works and it meets the needs of even few people at least it can be used by God to reach out to people.

I dunno about this. ILM actually uses gmail and GV for prayer requests, by emailing [email protected] or calling/texting 541-SAV-EME1. Check out the site provided to get the stats on this… but using this allows requests in whatever manner is most convenient, and gets the information privately and confidentially send to a prayer chain.

Hey Mr. Senior Editor,
If you can't say anything good about the hard work some one is doing for the expansion of God's kingdom, please keep your mouth shut! Don't waste a blog to discourage others. It's the motive that counts most, not the outcome… If you don't understand these principals consider shutting down this blog and doing something worthwhile…

Thanks Yohan for your thoughts. My intent was to inform of the site's launch and give my limited perspective.

I do find this to be a bit of an odd idea. It screams of "loose cannons" and the like.
It has made me think about integrating something in to our own church website as a tool for our members. Prayer chains exist in most churches and they work well as they are driven by a community and an intimacy that you can only get as part of a community. In our church its all done by phone and email – maybe digitaslising/automating this process, using the website to do so, could add more versatility to how its done..

I feel like praying for someone I don't have any relationship too is probably positive in the global eternal Christian sense, but 1. I'll never *know* if God answered the prayer and 2. they'll never be encouraged because I/we prayed for them. Not a bad idea..I just don't get it.
But I'm using P2 for a online team checklist gig, and it's wonderful. Mega props
