I was on a flight back to Atlanta when I struck up a conversation with the person next to me. As usual we talked about our kids, families, and work.
But it was when I told them that my daughter is already typing that she looked at me with a face that said “bad parent” all over it.
I smiled. In fact, I grinned and then told her about Roenne’s iPad.
But, it made me wonder if there was a specific age that was too young for children to engage with electronic devices. I personally don’t think so, but I’m sure there’s many more on the other side of the fence.
Thoughts?

I think it’s never too young and I do not think that it stops intelectual growth.

No, there is no such thing as too young today. You could make thar statement a decade ago, but not today. As always, you teach digital lessons in the same moderate way that you teach analog ones. And normally speaking, those afraid of such youth learning digital have a fear of theca themselves they they have not reconciled with education past their pain points.
John Saddington says
definitely agree. moderation is crucial!

In a controlled and moderated environment it is can be very educational and mentally stimulating. One thing that I find funny is all of the study’s that show we burn more calories sleeping than while watching TV because our minds are more active. This is very much the same thing, interaction with electronic devices is mentally stimulating. In a world that is going more that direction every waking moment it is a very healthy thing to foster and encourage the use, knowledge and being comfortable with different electronic devices and technologies.

I don’t think any age is too young. You’ve just got to teach them how to deal with it. Like anything, there’s good and bad with technology.
I would imagine that most folks that read here will have the same opinion.
