It seemed like a good idea, yesterday.
I’ve decided to go the next 30-days (until October 3rd) without coffee.
Here are the rules that I am following:
- I will not make coffee in the morning and after lunch like I usually do.
- No caffeinated teas allowed! This is primarily about coffee, but caffeine, too.
- If I am invited to have coffee with a friend or friends come to the house for a cup of coffee, I am allowed to have a cup, too.
Why would I torture myself like this? Nothing very compelling, really. I just think it’s good for my health and loosens my addiction to coffee.
Here’s an interesting look at how our brains react to coffee:
I have read and experienced the effects of going cold turkey on caffeine. The first few days will be rough (like today!), but by the time I hit a full week, I should be feeling a whole lot better.
Are you hooked on caffeine?

Makes sense why you “crash” after a few cups and then nothing. All that adenosine builds up and once the caffeine is gone it rushes back in to bind to the receptors.

Yes. And it’s been quite the day…
I am sure that after doing this, I’ll be thinking twice before drinking it regular again. Although, I’ve done this kind of thing before, so I’ll probably end up in the same place again—LOL!
