It’s funny how most people see the world.
Being an American living in Italy, I think I notice this more than ever before (and even more if I experienced additional cultures).
The truth be told, most of us know the world through our limited experiences, whether it be our own or retold by someone else.
Here are some world maps that are sure to make you think:
The Worlds Major Religions

As interesting as this may seem, knowing that only about 10% of Italians are practicing Catholics, less than 2% are Evangelical Christians, and with more Italians practicing magic or the occult than there are Catholic priests, I wouldn’t use this for any deep conclusions—although good for a general reference I suppose.

The Most Dangerous Areas in the World To Ship Due to Pirates

What would a post about maps be without pirates? In all seriousness, though, it’s amazing to think of this still going on. A friend of mine took me on a day cruise aboard a U.S. Navy aircraft carrier, and he told me some stories about some of the crazy things these modern day pirates will do. Things like, highjacking a huge cargo ship, killing all those on board to assume their identity, re-paint the boat, forge all the documents, and then pull into a dock, collect money, etc… and then ditch the entire thing before being caught (I told you it was crazy!).
What do you think of some of these maps?
