WordPress.com bloggers can now impress their iPad readers.
For the past four months, WordPress has been working with Onswipe to create a plugin that presents blogs in a more “touching” manner.
If you have a WordPress.com blog, this new feature is built-in and you can make some tweaks right-now, if you have WordPress.org self hosted blog, you can get the plugin!
Onswipe gives iPad readers an app-like feel. It’s HTML5 backend delivers touch interactions, swiping, rotation, and some other features the iPad has.
WordPress.com users can play with the options if you they go to Appearance -> iPad:
- Have the theme use an image from your recent posts as a cover.
- Upload a logo to showcase your brand or personality on the cover.
- Upload an image to be used as a loading graphic when visitors add your site to their home screen.
- Switch fonts.
- Choose from 9 different skin colors, to best match the feel of your site.
- Enable or disable the whole thing.
If iPad users tap to view a post, they get the full screen content with all the commenting and social sharing tools at their finger tips!
Very slick.
WordPress.com users should certainly take advantage of this feature.
As for the WordPress.org self hosted users, get it now from the Onswipe website and you will be automatically upgraded to the full platform this Spring.
With the rising need for responsive web design, this maybe the perfect solution for you!
