It can be really hard for me to worship at home, alone. My church has a full band, so worship on Sundays is both an event and an experience. As I’ve written before, I’ve never been to a Passion event, but after listening to their previous album and, now, having heard their newest release, Whole Heart, I definitely see why so many attend. Their music is fantastic. Their energy is high. His presence is palpable.
This new album, Whole Heart, offers no less, and in fact, it offers more. Here, take a taste:

I love that we have built up this culture of congregational worship that even transcends congregations. Christians of all types and stripes gather together to praise the Savior of us all. It’s a picture of heaven! But, at the same time, we need time to worship privately, one-on-one with the Savior of us singularly. That’s where an album like this comes in and why it’s so crucial. Whole Heart is electric, emotional, and exactly what one needs for personal, passionate worship.
I don’t want to over-spiritualize this review, so let me just throw out two little things I really appreciated about the album:
- “God, You’re So Good” – I love that they took the old hymn “God Is So Good” and breathed some life back into it. This was one of those off-the-cuff hymns that my church would sing around the altar after a long time of prayer. The are a lot of fond memories wrapped up in it.
“All My Hope” – What a great break from the more anthemic songs that we are currently accustomed to. I love the anthemic, but I thought that including this soulful ensemble number was a perfect change of pace.
Passion’s Whole Heart (Live) is an experience, even if you haven’t been to the event.
