Ah, the status bar. Yet another thing to love about Android. I find it amazing how such a small percentage of your screen can contain so much information! For those seasonal newcomers, your status bar is the black (usually) thin bar at the top of your screen. There are a few apps I use that have persistent notifications (those that stay in your tray even after clearing), and I think they might be helpful to you as you go about your ministry. Let’s take a look.
Ever Accountable
Easily the best app I’ve dropped money on. Period.
- Subscription based accountability app
- Monitors potentially inappropriate (sinful) apps and website visits and reports them to an accountability partner
- Accesses Android’s Accessibility security level, and can monitor even incognito browsing in Chrome, Facebook, and Youtube
- Notification persists so that Android doesn’t “kill” the app, thus rendering the monitoring disrupted.
- Full review to come soon, but don’t wait for it, install now and enter into accountability.
1Weather
Your basic weather app with a few added perks.
- Nice, pleasant UI
- An array of features including radar maps, forecasts, and hour-to-hour reporting
- Notification displays the current temperature for your location, and is expandable to show a forecast right in your notification tray
- Free, but there is an upgrade to Pro to remove ads
Quicksocial
The fastest, easiest way I’ve found to cross-post text and images to various social media outlets.
- Easily cross-posts your social media statuses to facebook, twitter, and google plus
- Pro version is recommended, as you can upload images to these sites all in one shot
- Can connect pages and multiple accounts (twitter, google plus) -add your church or ministry page for easy posting
- Notification gives you one tap access to share to all, or one of your connected accounts
The reason I’m recommending these apps to you is to have you check them out for yourself. I use them everyday in both personal and ministry settings, and I think you can do the same.
What’s in your status bar? Do you have any apps with persistent notifications? How do they fit into your daily routine?
A Brief Christmas Aside
Christmas is just a day away. In ministry, we’re getting burned out with busy schedules and constant demands. It’s been a busy time at 78P as well. We’ve been reviewing products, writing ebooks, helping with new ventures, and fine tuning current ventures. We love you and are excited to celebrate Christmas with you this week! Already looking forward to a fun filled 2014
