You forgot your Bible again? How? You got the hoodie Bible for Christmas!
How does Danny always forget the sheet music? After all, the choir committee did spring for that new music hat.
Pastor Joe had NO excuse to run over on Sundays any more. His Bible is on his watch now!
I’m telling you folks: the wearable technology revolution is upon us.
I don’t think we really need to worry about scripture-enabled frocks and robes just yet. I mean, church creatives are still getting church folks on Twitter, and people of all ages are still blown away by the Bible App on my phone. We clearly still have plenty of work to do. But if CES is any indication, the avalanche is coming, and it might be time for church techies to get the snowboards out.
Nah… this isn’t a dire warning, or a weepy rant, or even a call to arms. It’s a simple request to get ready, because people will expect you, the designated congregation techie, to know. And you can’t plead ignorance, because ignorance is deemed to be of the fallen one.
I can’t claim to be a prophet or tech trends savant. My first wearable technology was my Walkman, and the only thing that forced me to move on was the heartbreaking phasing out of cassette tapes. I crave Google Glass, but part of me appreciates the prohibitive price. Do I really want to be the sole black guy on whitemenwearinggoogleglass.tumblr.com? Do I?
Personal insecurities aside, I think we are at a good place with wearables. The urge to be flashy has not yet trumped the need to be functional, so we only have to deal with mostly connected watches at the moment. Choir directors won’t be live-blogging Christmas worship from their sweater vests for at least several moons. So relax, and enjoy what we have now. It’s disconcerting when the tablet freezes in the pulpit, but it’s somewhat reassuring, no? The world hasn’t gone completely tech clothing crazy, yet.
Until Pastor Joe gets that new connected collar. Because, then it’s on.

I have glass, you should definitely get a pair!
I however don’t wear them in church.. just one of those distractions.. I don’t take my phone out or tablet either.. until there is a way to use the bible app and not get notifications.
