Everyone starts somewhere.
Maybe you’re interested in diving into the world of motion graphics but just don’t know where to begin. If you’re in church media, knowing After Effects can add so much visually to your gatherings.
But how do you start? That can be overwhelming.
The waters get a little less murky after you try it out for yourself a few times. And it may even help to have someone step you through creating your first animation from start to finish.
Luckily, today’s video tip is designed to do just that. 😉

Hopefully that gives you a small window into the world of motion graphics. If something inside you sparked, and you’re interested in a crash course on learning After Effects, I encourage you to try out an online learning site like Lynda.com or VideoCopilot.Net to dig a little deeper.
Do you use After Effects regularly? What are the most creative ways you’ve used it in your gatherings?

Thanks for that! I’m a musician, but wanting to learn to do some things like this for future ministry opportunities if a position doesn’t come with a full-time graphics guy like we have currently. This is a great start!

I remember speaking with you about this before, but I find the best way to learn After Effects is when your pastor, boss, whatever comes to you and says, wouldn’t this be cool?
Haha, but yeah, I spent a weekend going through videocopilot.net’s introduction course and granted, there’s still a TON that I need to learn, it gave a really well rounded understanding of the basics.
Also, because it is keyframe based, I found that it helps a ton to be comfortable with timeline based flash animation.
