I remember several years ago when ChurchMag Senior Staff Writer Rachel Miedema asked if she could write a Saturday Morning Review for the newly released Xbox One game: Forza Horizon 2.
It was the first post of its kind; and while I enjoyed video games myself, I hadn’t ever thought about posting a review of a video game on ChurchMag before.
The truth is, we were already reviewing some books, music, and sometimes movies, so adding another medium was a no-brainer. Especially when you consider the role video games play in our geek culture.
So, for the past few years we’ve had a few reviews peppered here and there. Some for console, PC, and even some mobile games are thrown into the mix.
Now, I don’t want us to become a gaming review site. There are many out there that are doing a mighty fine job, even Gamechurch reviews include a unique spin, not to mention their wonderful community , so that’s not something we are interested in.
Our Saturday Morning Reviews, however, could use some more of these kinds of reviews in my opinion — in addition to the music and book reviews we will continue to post. It seems like most of the games we’ve covered in the past has admittedly been too many, “oh crap we need a Satuday Morning Review post” kind of motivation.
Which is lame.
So, while considering the list below of what we have covered in the past, give us some insight on what you would like to have covered in the future. Are there specific games? Maybe review newer releases? Older games nobody talks about anymore? Mobile games?
We would love to get some feedback.
And if nobody around here can write about it, we’ll find someone who can.
