It hasn’t been a Facebook feature for long, but it’s one of the improvements I’ve quickly come to love. I’m talking about the option of saving a post. If you aren’t using this, you either have boring friends who never post anything interesting, too much time to watch everything right away, or you miss out on good stuff.
When something interesting shows up on your timeline that you don’t have to time to look at right away, you have the option to save the link. It can be a video, a link to a blog post or anything else that you want to check out later.
Here’s how it works:
How to Save a Link for Later on Facebook
- Find the post you want to save. Let’s say it’s this link to hilarious messy family photos.
2. In the right upper corner of the post, there’s a tiny little arrow pointing down. As you click on this, you get several options. They may be in a different order than the screen shot below, but if it’s a link, the ‘save this post’ option should be there. Mind you: this only works with links, even if they link to a Facebook page. If it’s merely a post, you won’t get the save option.
- Click on ‘Save this post’. A small box will appear right above the post confirming this was added to your saved posts.
If you want to see what you have saved, go to the left sidebar on your timeline. One of the options there is ‘Saved’. If you click there, you’ll see everything you have saved.
- What’s extra interesting is that Facebook archives your saved links even after you’ve deleted them (which you do after watching them by simply clicking on the cross right next to the link). So if you have deleted the link already, but decide it’s useful after all, check out your saved links archive!
I use this option a lot, especially when I check my Facebook on my cell phone but don’t want to watch every interesting video right there and then. And when I have a few minutes to kill, or when I simply want to ben entertained, I binge watch all my funny (or supposedly funny) saved links!

I prefer to use Paper as my main Facebook viewing app which let’s you then save links to Pocket. Since I use Pocket to collect links and articles all the time from other sources as well it streamlines my reading habits from all sources.

I’ve never tried Paper nor Pocket, both are on my lists of apps to try this year. I like your solution to gather all links in one place.

I have used paper and pocket and a few others…which work well but I can’t tell you how many times I’m on facebook scrolling through and don’t have time to stop and read an article but I want to save it for later. Usually I’ll email the url to myself, now there is an easier way! Thanks so much Rachel, you are really helping me out today!

Glad to be of help Seth 🙂 This happens to me all the time as well. Or I’m seeing something interesting when I check Facebook on my cell and I don’t want to use up all my data on videos…It’s the perfect solution!
