It’s no secret that MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) is where all the smart kids go.
If you’re a genius, you go to MIT.
So, it shouldn’t be shocking when MIT comes out with something like this:

Do you need a minute to process what you just saw?
Let me break it down for you:
A dude was moving a ball around while standing in another room!
Not to mention all of that crazy 3D modeling. The potential here is practically unlimited. I mean, did you see him “throw” a bar graph from an iPad to the model? Insane!
I think what I love most about the technology behind this is that one of the major components is just a Kinect sensor. The same XBox technology that we have access to is a vital part of this system. Makes me feel like I could do something like this, if I so desired. (Granted, there is a lot of “higher” tech stuff in here, but I think that is where passion/purpose/planning come into play.)
Now, while part of me loves this, the other part has to ask, “Where do we go from here?” Seriously, how much more “virtual presence” will we accept in place of “actual presence”?
Some deep questions and a crazy technical application. Keep it up, smart kids!
Does technology like this scare you, excite you, or both?
