On the eleventh day of ChurchMag’s Twelve Days of Christmas (learn more) is more about the time you have than the dollars you can give.
There are a lot of kids out there that need a solid role model. A living, breathing, personal relationship with someone. Someone like you and me!
Big Brothers Big Sisters
[tentblogger-youtube ZwEAcgL6_SM]
From the Big Brothers Big Sisters website:
“Big Brothers Big Sisters seeks to change the lives of children facing adversity for the better, forever. We operate in communities all across the United States – urban and rural… Big and Little. Our mentors work with children in the community, in their schools, on military bases, and many places in between. Our unique brand of one-to-one mentoring has a Big impact all over the nation.”
It’s amazing to see the results!
Children in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program are:
- more confident in their schoolwork performance
- able to get along better with their families
- 46% less likely to begin using illegal drugs
- 27% less likely to begin using alcohol
- 52% less likely to skip school.
Wow!
Creatives & Geeks
As Church creatives and geeks, there’s hardly a better time in the world to be cool than now! It hasn’t always been cool to be into computers and graphic art. Seriously! It’s true! Tech is so cool, right now, what better way for us to leverage our coolness than volunteer our time and influence the next generation of young people?
Whether it be the Big Brothers Big Sisters program or something like it (youth group anyone?), consider donating your time?
This Christmas
Just because an organization or cause is BIG, doesn’t mean they don’t need your support. The bigger the org, the bigger the reach, the bigger the budget. You get the idea.
This holiday season, consider supporting Big Brothers Big Sister with your money and/or time!
