Google provides some great tools when it comes to managing your presence online. Between Webmaster Tools, Alerts, and Analytics, it’s relatively easy to make sure your content is indexed and to keep track of the activity around it.
But the web is much more social and keeping the pulse on your property and/or organization now extends into the social web.
Yes, there are a number of tools out there to help you do this but some are always going to be better than others. If you’re looking to monitor Twitter beyond the simple “mentions” or “replies” feature, then TweetAlarm is worth a look.
TweetAlarm is unique in that – like Google Alerts – it allows you to specify what criteria you want it to monitor. Once it detects a mention of the specified criteria, it will notify you via email.
It’s a free service and the sign-up is quick and easy. Provide a little bit of information, and you’re good to go:
Love this kind of service and the simplicity of the utility.
Would you use this? Or, perhaps a better question, if you’re using something like this, how has it been working for you?

very, very cool. If you could add location to this functionality, it’d be GAME OVER!
(not really game over, but maybe more like “game on”)

I’ve done some work with trying to leverage the Twitter Location API – not very many people actually publish their location (nor do I blame them).
At least, not yet.
