Are you describing yourself as creative in your LinkedIn profile?
You may want to rethink that.
As it turns out, you’re not creative at all. At least, not for using the word, creative.
Professional networking site LinkedIn has once again published it’s top 10 list of overused buzzwords in the user profiles and it offers a fascinating glimpse into how people see themselves. Creative turns out to be the number one buzzword people use to describe themselves, both worldwide and in the US.
Organizational and effective were the other two buzzwords in the top 3 in the US, making the top 3 the exact same as last year. One could say that’s effective, but it’s not very creative.
New on the list were responsible (not a bad trait to have I’d think in this economy and what with all the stories about fraud) and analytical. Dynamic and communication skills both got bumped off the list and rightly so if you ask me.
If you want to standout, you might want to consider getting rid of these buzzwords in your profile. Let’s face it, if you really are creative, it shouldn’t be that hard to come up with more…creative terms to describe yourself.
Have you checked your LinkedIn profile to see if you are/were using any of these buzz words? How did you score?
