Usually TMI (Too Much Information) is reserved for those moments when someone has said too much. This is almost always the case when couples are sharing child birth stories. This I will never understand. Somethings should remain unsaid–I’m just saying.
I digress.
Whenever you are communicating with a client, pastor, or whomever you may be serving, be mindful of sharing “too much information.”
Here’s what I mean:
You have been hired–entrusted–because you are the expert.
You have been chosen to do the task, because it couldn’t be done by someone else as easily or it needed to be done well.
So, the next time you’re tempted to explain .htaccess, DNS records or why you chose that particular shade of blue, bite your tongue. There’s not need to muddy the waters.
Is there a time and place to “educate”? Yes, but keep it simple!
You are the expert. There’s no need to show-off.
Do those you are serving a favor and translate what you know. Keep it simple. Keep it basic. Turn complicated technical details into information that matters to them.
Speak your mind...
