The following three ads are very graphic.
They are hard hitting ads/PSA’s that are designed to curb Meth use.
In an age where so many young people have been desensitized with special effects, are these spots still too graphic?
Or are they accurately hitting their target audience?

We’ve come a long way from showing an egg frying in a pan.

Have we been too nice? To stop a tough addiction like Meth, maybe this is the only way that people might respond. It’s a risky venture, but maybe this is what it will take.
Daniel Berman says
And once people have been desensitized to this type of material as well, then what?
Eric Dye says
The ads don’t cause the desensitization, it’s other forms of media. An envelope that is naturally pushed by technology, effects, etc …
If you compare these ads to real life, they’re mild.

WOW – These are awesome!
I love campaigns that make toy sit up, and take notice. These certainly do so.
While Youth today may appear to be desensitized to a lot of stuff I have found that with lots of the young people I know it’s part of the front. They are still impressionable, vulnerable and impressionable.
The simplest of words can brake them and make them soar.
Meth is not as big an issue in the UK as it is in the States but I would love to see a similarly brutal campaign on knife crime.

Mark, thanks for your comments. You really added value to this.
Great stuff.

I think these types of ads are what we should have been showing all along. I think we played it too nice back in the day when you couldn’t fast forward through commercials. And now, not only can you fast forward through commercials but we have movies and TV shows that are glamorizing drug use, alcoholism, etc. And they are desensitized. It’s a sad world we live in.
Eric Dye says
Indeed :-/

This film was being used in the UK for the text/driving campaign – This is very graphics and very harsh but it hammered the message home: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SC3x7K3EOTk

Great link, Mark. Thanks for the share.

Hmmm, I both “like” these and hate these. Cascading emotions…

I know what you mean.
