Having an online platform is great when you have a message you are trying to get to your audience. But how do you know that what you are saying is connecting? How do you know who your audience is anyways? And should you just keep shouting at them or get to actually know them so you can better serve them?
If you are picking the answers that I’m obviously pushing you towards, you need to consider an online survey. We’ve discussed this before about why your church needs a survey, so I won’t over try to sell you. But if you are already on board, I have a couple of tips to help you make a better survey for your church.
Here are three of my favorite points from below:
- In 2015, only 2% of people presented with a survey fully participated in it. Some of that is because of too many surveys to take and some of that is because people make awful surveys. Don’t do either.
- More than 50% of surveys will be taken on a mobile device. If your survey form isn’t mobile friendly, expect to hit that 2% or less. I know I wouldn’t take it.
- The right kind of survey tool you use is important. Do you explain why this is important, do you have a progress bar so they have a reasonable expectation of what they are taking? These are absolutely needed.

I wish more online surveys would follow this!
