It’s been a while since I listened to a new record from Vineyard Music. So I was excited to get this review request—I am a big fan of their worship leaders you see (the old ones at least)!
‘The Woven Whisper’ is the debut project of Vineyard worship leader Sarah Brusco. Apparently, she used to intern with the great Kathryn Scott.
Featuring folks like Sharon Gerber (Imogen Heap’s Cellist) and Casey Corum (Who doesn’t like “Dwell”, right!), Sarah’s music belongs to the Dream Pop genre.
About the Music
Sarah voice is hauntingly beautiful and great to listen to! By the second track “Leading me on”, I was hooked. It’s almost unbelievable considering she was diagnosed with a tumor that affected her vocal chords some time ago!
This is not a usual worship project—there are regular songs and then there are just lingering melodies of oohs and aaahs sung over lush instrumentals. If you like Audrey Assad’s voice, you will absolutely like Sarah!
The music is dreamy, gentle and intimate and you can just play it on and on and on—I especially loved the percussion and cello work that stands out throughout the album splashing the listener with a collage of emotions.
Here’s a song video to better understand what this album sounds like:

This is a record that’s best listened to as a whole rather than picking out individual songs. That said, there are usable songs from a worship leading perspective too. “Leading Me On”, “At the Table”, “Make Your Home Inside My Heart”, apart from the Vineyard classic “Exalt the Lord” are some of the standout songs.
Mixed by Vineyard Campbellsville, the production is topnotch making this an enjoyable Vineyard release!
